The Worker Justice Center

The Worker Justice Center has recently welcomed a new staff member, Martiza Ovsak, who is our very first Domestic & Sexual Violence Victim Advocate for the Hudson Valley region. WJCNY’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Program offers specialized, culturally appropriate case management and legal services to victims of domestic violence who are employed in agricultural work or have previously been employed in agricultural work, regardless of immigration status. Martiza is bilingual (Spanish/English) and will work with victims to identify and address the specific needs of each survivor. Our program's in-house legal services include U-Visa applications and VAWA self-petitions, while WJCNY works with local partners to provide referrals for family legal services. In the Hudson Valley, the program is funded to serve women in the following counties: Dutchess, Columbia, Greene, Ulster, Orange, and Sullivan. I encourage you all to reach out directly to Maritza with questions or referrals at movsak@wjcny.org or (845) 331-6615 ext. 1007. Additional questions about the program may also be directed to WJCNY's Program Director, Andrea Callan acallan@wjcny.org
