The YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County announces its Summer Youth Mountain Bike Camp for 6th – 9th graders.  The one week session will be based at the YMCA’s Camp Seewackamano facility in Shokan. The camp will run from August 6th to 10th, 9am-4pm. Campers develop mountain bike skills through trail rides and games and spend four days at offsite trail locations (which may include Lippman Park, Ferncliff Forest, Elm Ridge, Lake Minnewaska State Park or others).  Basic bicycle safety and maintenance as well as environmental responsibilities that come with outdoor recreation will be covered.  A geared bicycle in good working order, with off-road tires measuring at least 2 inches in width, and helmet are required. This is an intermediate level program and is not intended for beginners. Cost: $385.00. Sign up at the YMCA (507 Broadway, Kingston) or online here: http://ymcaulstercountycamps.campbrainregistration.com/

The Mountain Bike Program is directed by Tom Polk, Bicycle Educator for the YMCA.  He is a life-long cyclist and has been instructing youth and adults in safe cycling for the past 9 years.  Tom holds a certification from the League of American Bicyclists as a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) and is certified as a Mountain Bike Guide by the International Mountain Bike Association.
