O+ Festival's Wellness EXPO+
Saturday, October 7, 2017

Wall Street (between John Street and North Front Street)
Kingston, NY 12401
The O+ Festival is a nonprofit organization powered by volunteers whose mission is to build long-term relationships between creatives and health and wellness providers to help strengthen local communities. Our year-round efforts culminate in a weekend long celebration, during which artists and musicians create and perform in exchange for a variety of wellness services donated by local doctors, dentists and complementary care providers. The entire community experiences the healing power of art and music as well as wellness education and offerings that take place throughout the weekend. By involving other nonprofits and local businesses, we improve the physical and mental health of the participating artists, musicians, volunteers and community members while revitalizing our community’s economic health.
Why We Are Different
Festival attendees make a donation to receive an all-access wristband to experience more than 40 bands, 20 artists, Literary SALO+N, cycling events, Wellness EXPO+, the Good Work Institute at O+ Conference, and EXPLO+RE classes in yoga, dance, meditation and sound healing. Our What’s It Worth to YO+U? donation model democratizes the transformative weekend of art, music and wellness and makes attending it accessible to all. Financial support from our sponsors and private donors, therefore, is especially important. O+ shines a light on the possibility of an economic, culturally vibrant and sustainable community driven by wellness and the arts.
What We Accomplish
To date, we’ve operated on the support, hard work and kindness of the communities we serve. Local businesses and nonprofits provide in-kind donations, but they also support our fundraising efforts by donating services. After seven years of festival planning and year-round activity, we are happy to have formed relationships with more than 50 local businesses and nonprofits. Through the creative local exchange of art and music for diverse holistic care, we’ve been able to bring awareness and meaningful care to those in need while boosting our community’s economy. Under-insured artists, musicians and volunteers have received care in addition to a greater awareness around what they can do to improve their personal health. Local care providers have been provided the opportunity to expand their practices and engage in alternative ongoing exchanges with patients, which enables them to sustain their businesses and build an overall stronger local community.
